What are Key Skills?
 

Key Skills are transferable skills with national standards written by QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) and awarded via many Awarding bodies.

A comprehensive set of documents outlining the requirements for each National Traineeship programme has been distributed to the training network. Further copies can be accessed at any of the Key Skills Resource Centre locations.

The subjects offered at five levels are:

 

Application of Number

Communication

Improving Own Learning and Performance

Information Technology

Problem Solving

Working With Others

Study of Key Skills

In Northern Ireland, all young people aged 16 - 18, following

an NVQ programme are required to follow a course in Key Skills
